Harbert Retail Brokers $2M Sale of Former Hwy 55 Restaurant to Cook Out

Harbert Retail’s Casey Howard and Lacey Scott successfully brokered the $2 million sale of the former Hwy 55 restaurant property located at 1503 Glenn Blvd SW in Fort Payne, Alabama. The highly visible retail site was acquired by Cook Out as part of its continued expansion across the Southeast.

The transaction was led by Harbert Retail brokers Casey Howard and Lacey Scott.

The 0.99-acre property includes a 2,949-square-foot freestanding building with a high-capacity drive-thru and is positioned along Glenn Boulevard, Fort Payne’s primary retail corridor. The site benefits from strong fundamentals, including traffic counts exceeding 32,000 vehicles per day and proximity to a dense concentration of national retailers and QSR brands such as Lowe’s, Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, Walgreens, and Burger King.

“This asset checked every box for Cook Out,” said Casey Howard of Harbert Retail. “Strong traffic, established retail synergy, and exceptional visibility with an existing drive-thru made this an ideal location for Cook Out’s entry into the Fort Payne market.”

This transaction continues Harbert Retail’s momentum in repositioning and monetizing former Hwy 55 properties across the Southeast. The team recently completed lease transactions at former Hwy 55 locations in Gallatin and Fayetteville, Tennessee, and Muscle Shoals and Guntersville, Alabama with Taco Bell, Wendy’s, and Guthrie’s, respectively, and facilitated the sale of a former Hwy 55 in Kingsland, Georgia to Layne’s Chicken Fingers.
